WEB TOOL SMACKDOWN


The web tool I selected to do my presentation on was Kahoot! While in high school I felt it was utilized quite often and can still remember the excitement on the days the teachers would tell us to take out our phones because we were doing a review on Kahoot. Learning should be fun and engaging and I feel this is a great tool to have in your pocket as an educator. This would apply to many students learning styles and also allows the more shy students to feel more comfortable or at ease participating in large group activities. 

I feel Kahoot is an amazing resource for teachers to use to test various topics and subjects within their classrooms. As shown in the video with the free version of Kahoot there a various pre-made games made that could possibly relate to you topic or standards you may be responsible for facilitating that week. There is also the flexibility for you to create and customize your own Kahoot! You can add in pictures of the things your students may be interested in to really grow their attention and retention when reviewing certain topics.

    Hi Skylar,
    I feel that Kahoot is a great app to use for educational purposes due to its game-based learning to increase student engagement and motivation! I also suffer from testing anxiety, so I feel that Kahoot is a great way to decrease anxiety and help to create a less stressful testing environment.

    I mentioned this on another blog, but I grew up absolutely loving Kahoot! It is such an amazing way to get students to study by using their competitive nature.

Technology Blog #2: Chapter 6

    After reading Chapter 6 in The Connected Educator it heavily focused on the idea of creating a good connected community. It explained early on how they were formed and even how to evolve. I think the more important topics that were discussed within chapter six were providing roles and responsibilities, selecting a passionate leader to lead the community, and simply just building trust within each other.  Source: https://action4connection.org/     David Lee created something called the "4L model" which focused on how people of the community "self selected" their roles by the ways they chose to participate. The 4L's were Linking, Lurking, Learning, and Leading.
