Post 1: Chapter 2
I found Chapter 2 of The Connected Educator by Sheryl Nussbaum- Beach quite interesting. This chapter had themes of connected learning communities, the differences between personal and professional learning networks, and the drive for diversity. Exploring these different themes and how they're important in different ways of education was necessary to build the readers general background of new vocabulary as well as why it may be important to note.
Within professional learning communities they focus on working together in grades, departments, and district wide teams to ensure a students achievement. On the flip side personal learning networks focus on the gathering of information to benefit ones self. While professional learning mainly focuses on the benefit of the school it's necessary to collect the results within the school to help with building a personal learning network.

To add, while keeping a connected learning community and embracing change they're able to grow from it. Adding people from different cultures, ages, and races is necessary in order to bring new ideas to the community. They show up by enhancing ideas, possibilities, insight, and even skill set to the team and it allows others to learn and grow from each others differences.

Hi Skyler ! Diversity is very important; this brings not only different cultures and backgrounds but different perspectives as well. This allows the team to grow and also get to know each other a little more. At my old job, all the staff were from different countries, so we decided to have a multicultural feast, and we had different foods from Peru, Mexico, India, and etc. Everyone was able to share a bit of their culture which exposed us to new things.
